What a day was a tar roofing, is today an authentic oasis in New York. Who would say that this House surrounded by trees, carpeted lawns and wood, in whose garden hens, scamper is nestled in the heart of New York. Well it might be a small plot that magically had appeared, suddenly suspended roofs.
This magnificent penthouse, located in Little Italy, between Grand and Baxter streets. From the terrace you can see the dome of the old police building, now converted into luxury apartments. The beauty of the dome, inspired by the Invalides in Paris, contrasts with two water deposits, typical of the city, located on the deck.
After enticed us by the beauty of this building, turn to focus our attention on the attic of Chris and Lisa Goode, a young couple related to the film industry and owners of a company doing roofs landscaping projects.
The exterior It is an urban dream built on the roof of a building, a dwelling in which outdoor life has great importance. The roof is fully landscaped, in a combination of grass, wood, trees and flowers. The area closest to the House is ranked by a dais of wood which delimits the space and allows the step, while beyond wild flowers grow lush in huge clumps.
A group of five chickens usually lives in this garden, where at one time there was even a hive. They are also intended for a space to plant vegetables and collect the fruits of the trees, in an example of urban self-sufficiency.
The interior is bright thanks to the translucent windows that run along the entire wall next to the stairs. Through them the vegetation can be seen dimly, providing an interesting game of shadows. With these Wicker, few or no decorative detail are necessary at the entrance.
The Living room It presents a simple decoration, without big surprises. A somewhat cold atmosphere which brings together furniture and works of art with signature. Coffee table is a known Saarinen design and picture that we see at the top of the chimney is Warhol. A great carpet Moroccan Beni Ouarain, compensates for the apparent coldness, offering a soft corner for rest.
The broad Dining room It is another example of austerity. We do not find anything superfluous in this room. The large dining table is the element in lathe which tour the ranch, here comes only to lunch or dinner. Light is abundant thanks to the window corner, which is protected, when necessary, with curtains by color sand.
In the Office Lisa, we find more warmth, thanks to the background wallpaper. Saarinen returned to lend his design, present on the study table. This is a strange trio with Office Chair and two chairs of courtesy, of classic style and upholstered with a striped fabric. The side walls are well used to offering a great space for storage. The ceiling lamp, in bright red, gives balance and a point of Picardy to the office.
Light floods the kitchen, a functional space that is dominated by stainless steel. Here the products harvested in the Orchard garden, vegetables, eggs are cooked and once honey.
Cooking with this large window must be a delight, while taking the New York sky faced is Suspender a Turkey…
