Metropolis Design  have designed a garden pavilion of concrete as part of larger reconstruction and renovation of a private house in Cape Town, South Africa. The aim of the project is to make it possible to use the outdoor area for the householders. Robust, sustainable materials, such as concrete and wood, are used in the design and achieve a modern effect through angular, straightforward design.

The garden pavilion is divided into three areas. The outdoor kitchen is completely open, not covered, only partially wintered and tiled with concrete slabs. Seating and sufficient working and storage space are available, as well as seats. In the middle of the pavilion is the dining area. It is roofed and open on both sides with a nice view of the garden and the grounds. There is a massive rectangular dining table and four wood benches, which invite to a socializing table with family and friends. On the other hand, a chill area is designed – a cozy corner from two sides wintered and completely covered. In the center is a fire place placed and these surrounded by concrete concrete benches on three sides. A wooden deck covers the

In the evenings, a coherent atmosphere produces indirect LED lighting, which is incorporated into the suspended concrete ceiling. In the uncovered area – the outdoor kitchen, the lights are mounted on the wall and directed to the work surface. There is still a swimming pool on one side of the garden pavilion.
